When it comes time to move, be it across the street, across the state, or to another country, getting help with moving can real help ease the stress of the process.
#1 Local Moving
Local moving is when you are moving within the same city or within an hour or two of the city where you are currently located. With local moving services, the truck will show up, put your belongings on the truck, and move everything into your new home. With local moving services, your entire home can be moved in a couple of hours. With minimal driving time, your move can go very quickly.
#2 Long-Distance Moving
Long-distance moving is a different process than moving within the same area. With long-distance moving, your items are going to need to be shipped by a national van line or by an independent interstate moving company who hold a valid USDOT certification to move household goods.
With an interstate move, the movers will make sure that your belongings are packed carefully and that extra padding is used to keep your boxes and furniture secure due to all the extra movement that is possible.
With long-distance moving, your belongings will be packed up on a specific date, and delivered on a different date. If you need your belongings stored, most long-distance moving companies will store your belongings for a month or two for an additional fee before delivering them to your home.
#3 International Moving
Moving internationally is a complicated process that involves working with multiple moving teams. If you have an international move coming up, you need to find a mover that has an international team already set-up and in-place.
First, a local team will come up and pack up your home. They will generally have to pack your items to ensure that everything is packed and inventoried correctly for international shipping process.
The local team will then load up all of your belongings into a dedicated container for shipping. The container will be driven across the land to an international port via ship. The ship will carry the container to your destination country, or as close as possible, where a local team in the country where you are going to will take the items to your new home after they past through customs. This process can take up to a month or two to be completed.
When looking for moving services, you need to know what type you need. Local, long-distance, and international moving are all different processes, so be sure to find a moving company that specializes in the type of move that you will be going through.
