Will you start the new year by moving to a new house in a new city? If so, you are probably experiencing many different emotions. You might be thinking that this Christmas will be your last one in the home you have grown to love. On the other hand, maybe you are also excited about establishing your family in a new home and facing new adventures in your new city.
Do you already have a moving plan in place? If you do, maybe you are already busy with the packing process. Perhaps you are looking for ideas that will make this move a very smooth one. From arranging for full service moving to having a plan for the unpacking part of the move, here are some ideas that might help you.
Arrange For Full Service Moving - Maybe your business has already selected a full service moving company for you. If so, count your blessings that you won't have to go through a selection process. If you have to choose your own moving company, think of talking to friends who have recently moved to your city from another one. Find out if they were happy with the packing process and with the rates that were charged for the packing.
When you do find a company to move your household belongings, talk to them about any special items that will need special attention. For example, perhaps you are taking a grand piano with you. Or, maybe you have valuable paintings that are in large frames. Just like the other items that will be packed, those items will be treated in a way that they won't sustain any damage.
Have An Unpacking Plan - Think of making a large diagram of where items will be placed once they arrive at your new place of residence. You could even make little templets of your furniture and place them on the diagram. For example, if you have a flowered sofa that goes in the living room and a striped sofa that goes in the family room, you could depict that with a rectangular shape that defines each sofa, one with little flowers and the other with simple stripes.
If it's at all possible, have somebody at your new home to receive the packers. That will, of course, help them to know where to place containers that aren't part of your diagram.
